Ojas-Building Foods
Ayurveda names a family of foods — ghee, dates, soaked almonds, warm milk, honey — that build deep reserve (Ojas): stable energy, resilience, and glow.
How it works
Read through a modern lens these are calorie-dense, micronutrient-rich, easily digested foods: good fats for hormone synthesis and skin lipids, minerals for recovery, warm preparation for easy digestion. Ayurveda's insight is the framing — some foods are for stimulation, these are for restoration.
The practice
Weave in gently: a spoon of ghee in cooking, 4–6 almonds soaked overnight and peeled, two dates with breakfast, warm milk (dairy or oat) with cardamom in the evening. Reserve-building, not indulgence — small and regular.

Cautions
- ⚠ Adapt for dairy intolerance and diabetes (dates and honey are concentrated sugars).

Chronically elevated blood sugar stiffens and wrinkles skin by cross-linking collagen.
The Sattvic Plate
