The Gut–Skin–Brain Axis
Skin conditions and mood often trace back to gut health; feed the gut and the face follows.
How it works
The gut produces ~90% of the body's serotonin and trains the immune system. Dysbiosis raises systemic inflammation that expresses as acne, eczema, dullness — Ayurveda's Ama (undigested residue) maps closely onto this. Fiber and fermented foods diversify the microbiome and lower inflammatory markers.
The practice
Daily: 30+ g fiber from plants, one fermented food, 12-hour overnight eating pause. Notice skin changes over 3–6 weeks, not days.
The tradition
Ayurvedic Agni/Ama theory; modern microbiome science
Cautions
- ⚠ Increase fiber gradually.
- ⚠ Persistent skin conditions deserve a dermatologist's eyes.
