Shilajit — The Mountain's Mineral Pitch
Purified shilajit resin — centuries of compressed Himalayan plant matter, rich in fulvic acid and a broad trace-mineral profile — is Ayurveda's classical rasayana for vitality, with early trials supporting energy metabolism.
How it works
Fulvic acid (15–20% of quality resin) is a small, biologically active molecule that chelates minerals into absorbable form and appears to support mitochondrial energy production — small human trials in fatigued subjects showed improved energy markers and, in men, testosterone support. The dibenzo-α-pyrones it carries protect CoQ10 in the mitochondrial chain. Tradition arrived first: 'conqueror of mountains, destroyer of weakness' is the classical epithet.
The practice
Only lab-tested, purified resin from reputable sources — 300–500 mg dissolved in warm (not hot) water or milk, mornings. Cycle it (e.g., 8 weeks on, 2 off) as tradition suggests. Raw or cheap shilajit can carry heavy metals — purity is the entire question with this substance.
The tradition
Ayurvedic rasayana; classical texts (Charaka, Sushruta)
Cautions
- ⚠ Purity first: only third-party-tested resin.
- ⚠ Avoid in pregnancy, gout, and iron-overload conditions.
- ⚠ This informs — it does not prescribe. Weigh it and decide.
